Medical Director Approval form

The surgical procedure that are part of the BSUG Surgical Mentorship Scheme are currently subject to high vigilance scrutiny arrangements as laid out in NHS England, Scotland, Wales and NI Here

As part of the Governance arrangements of this scheme therefore, BSUG require all Mentors to provide confirmation from their medical director (or equivalent Accountable Officer) that :

  • They are compliant with the high vigilance requirements as per their NHS
  • They input their surgical data onto the required national databases (BSUG, BAUS, National Registries)
  • they clearly state which procedure they are happy for the mentor to train in
  • they confirm that the mentor has been performing these procedures as part of their routine clinical practice for a minimum of 3 years

Ranee Thakar BSUG lifetime achievement award

Ranee Thakar won the BSUG lifetime achievement award last year and formally received the prestigious accolade at the BSUG Annual scientific meeting this year. Miss Thakar, went on to deliver a fantastic lecture on the state of women's health and her own amazing journey.

BSUG: Welcomes new membership category - Allied Health Professionals

The British Society of Urogynaecology advocates and promotes the role of the multi-disciplinary team in the management of women with pelvic floor dysfunction, however until now, we have not had nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, allied health professionals and clinical scientists as members of the society.
