Friday, 11th November 2016 at RCOG, London - Call for Abstracts
The Annual Research Meeting of BSUG will be held in the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists on the date above. This year the ARM is an integral part of the Annual Scientific Update meeting As always, attendance at the ARM is free of charge for BSUG members and their guests. It is not necessary for you to register for the Annual Scientific Update (but we would encourage you do so!). If you plan to attend only the ARM, then we will not be able to offer lunch or refreshments.
We will welcome submission of abstracts for presentation at this meeting describing original research or relevant audit. All areas of urogynaecology, urinary and faecal incontinence, or peripartum continence issues are welcome. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CASE REPORTS.
Abstracts must be submitted on the abstract submission form available here. All fields should be completed and the presenting author should be underlined. A maximum of 300 words will be allowed (not including title/authors/institution or references) and a maximum of three references in the text of the abstract (Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions). Abstracts which do not adhere to these requirements will be rejected without scoring. Work which has previously been presented at any national or international society is not eligible.
For research involving human subjects, details of ethical approval must accompany your submission, and details of the registration of randomised trials must also be submitted.
All submissions must be accompanied by the relevant submission form available on the BSUG website. The forms include details of how the abstracts will be scored.
Submissions received without these form will be rejected.
The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 2nd September 2016 at 12 noon. Late submissions will not be accepted.
To submit an abstract, send two copies by email to bsug@rcog.org.uk. One copy should contain all the information referred to above, and one should have authors and institution section empty to allow blind refereeing. If any references are from your own group, these too should be removed in the blind copy. Abstracts will be subjected to blind competitive peer review by members of the research subcommittee and the top scoring abstracts will be selected for presentation.
Please send each abstract in a separate email if you plan to submit more than one.
Presented abstracts will be published in the International Urogynecology Journal. It is important that submitted abstracts contain work which has not been presented at formal speciality meetings before, nor been published in a scientific journal. Authors submitting abstracts must include a statement to this effect in their submission. “Formal speciality meetings” are defined as those where CME credits were available for participants. If any authors do not wish their abstract to be sent forward to the IUGA Journal they should state this at the time of submission.
Additionally for this year, we will award a prize to the best presentation of a free place at the 2 day London Cadaver Masterclass run by the London Medical Education Academy. The normal fee for this course is over £1,500 (there will be no cash equivalent). The winner will also receive a certificate. This prize has been very generously donated by June Medical Limited.
We are keen to receive abstracts where the presenting author (usually the first author) is a trainee who is completing subspecialty training or an ATSM. Trainees must be associate members of BSUG for at least one year. Trainees with less than one year’s membership must be working as a research fellow or subspecialty trainee under the direct supervision of a full member of BSUG of at least one year’s standing. Documentary evidence of membership must be submitted at the time of abstract submission.
